Waking up inside of Shanyce, felt just like I was where I was supposed to be. Last night happened exactly how I hoped that it would. I told her how I felt, and she, in turn, told me how she felt. This girl meant so much to me, and I was scared as hell. I didn’t know what she was going to Alabama for, and I was nervous as shit, just thinking about it. She didn’t divulge much into her past, but I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t curious as to what was going on with her. I knew I needed to trust her, though, and I was gonna do just that. At least, until I couldn’t no more.

I looked up at her, and she was peacefully sleeping, so I got up to go and take a shower. I had a change of clothes in the guest room, so after I showered, I got dressed and went downstairs to pick her up. She was still sleeping, so I picked her up and took her upstairs to lay her in bed. She was naked, so I went and got a soapy rag and washed her up. I put a t-shirt on her and laid back in bed. After everything I’d done, she slept through it all. When I climbed in bed, she automatically clung to me. She threw her leg across my leg and her arm across my midsection, then she kissed me on my chin.

“Thank you, baby! For everything! Dinner and dessert were both amazing.” She said, in her sleepy voice.

“That’s just the beginning, bay. There’s more to come. Goodnight.” I told her. The next morning, we were both up and out of the house by 8. I wanted to take her to breakfast, before her flight left, so we stopped at Denny’s to eat and talk.

Out of nowhere, I started asking her questions about her past. I didn’t want to discourage her or make her feel like I was judging her, but I felt like I needed to know. She told me that she wasn’t ready to talk about it, but she promised me that, as soon as she was, I would be the first person she came to. I couldn’t do anything, but respect it. Especially, after she promised that there was no reason for me and my family to worry about her.

I expressed my feelings to her about her going to Alabama, and again, she assured me that, if she needed me, she would call me, and I told her that I’d be on the first plane to her. Once we got to the airport, I waited with her and left after she boarded her plane. I’d made up my mind a long time ago that I’d be taking a trip to Alabama sooner than expected. I felt like she would need me, but she wouldn’t call me, because she would feel like she was bothering me.

She knows I’m busy at work, but what she didn’t know was that I ran these streets.
